QueensWay Met Hub

QueensWay is the planned conversion of an abandoned railroad line to a 3.5 mile rails-to-trails project in Queens. The project originated with the local grassroots advocacy organization the Friends of QueensWay partnering with The Trust for Public Land for a series of grant funding for the design process leading to the master plan (The QueensWay Plan) and subsequent design of the first Met Hub phase extending from Metropolitan Ave to Union Turnpike.

The Met Hub is the first half mile section of QueensWay. This first section, project managed through design development by Ms. Bentson, will provide a continuous bike and pedestrian path connection to Forest Park. Amenities will be provided to expand the current uses of the adjacent spaces, which included providing outdoor classrooms for the adjacent MELS school, a new bridge for safe crossing to Forest Park, and practice areas for the adjacent Little League.
