Melrose’s Resiliency Hubs

This project provides grant-funded solar-powered resiliency hubs installed in the Sunshine and La Finca del Sur community gardens, with the following goals:

  • Supporting community programming and functions on a regular basis

  • Enhancing community garden access to infrastructure, including power, solar-powered wifi , and rainwater harvesting

  • Acting as a central node for community resilience and self-sufficiency in an extreme weather event; the gardens will be well positioned to host vital services (e.g. electrical charging, food distribution, internet access) during natural and manmade disasters

  • Promoting educational opportunities related to solar installations

Project Team: Nos Quedamos, in association with the Bronx Sunshine and La Finca del Sur Community Gardens
Design Team: Pvilion, krista bentson landscape architecture, Civic Architecture Workshop
